Chris and Kate run Old Church Farm, a successful 5* B&B just outside of Bristol. The idea for the shoot initially came from Chris getting in touch with me and saying he loved my work and wanted to recommend me as a wedding photographer for his venue.
After meeting with Chris and seeing the gorgeous venue, I came up with the idea of a styled shoot to show off the venue’s wedding potential and for the chance to get creative with some fellow suppliers. I got in touch with Kirsten at The Little Wedding Helper, she is local to the venue and a fantastic stylist, and after meeting her for coffee to discuss ideas I knew she was the right person to help make my vision come true.
After throwing some ideas around we both decided we had wanted a bright and colourful palette reflecting the colours of spring. This was totally up my street as I love all things colour and we struck gold with Becky at Bijoux Floral who totally got our concept and created some beautiful floral bouquets and a stunning flower arch for the doorway.
Some of my favourite details were the hand painted place settings and invitations made by Brittany at Pigment + Paper. Such lovely illustration and they tied in so perfectly with the flowers and colour palette. We had a great team on the day and I loved collaborating with other creatives.
Kirsten adds “It is always wonderful when fellow wedding suppliers reach out to collaborate and get creative together! Hannah and I met up over coffee to chat about a new venue that she had been in contact with and not many miles from me. It has the perfect grounds for a marquee or tipi to go on and this is not easy to find in and around Bristol!
So as soon as we started chatting about the venue, the creative juices started flowing and I had an idea of the suppliers who I could ask if they wanted to be part of a shoot with us. We weren’t going to get a marquee up in the garden but knew we wanted to capture the gardens and the remnants of the old church in the grounds to inspire couples who were wanting a marquee celebration to consider this great space.
We decided on bringing lots of colour and a Spring feel to the shoot and layer up those details from the furniture to the cake to the stationery to the napkins and flowers.
The weather was definitely playing with us that day and it’s always worrying when you’re planning on shooting outside, especially in spring! I remember looking up at the sky, checking the weather app on my phone and thinking it’s now or never. As soon as the final shot was taken, the rain and hail stones came down and you’ve never seen me move so fast to move all the flowers and delicate stationery inside!
Our model Fausta was wonderful and looked amazing in her dresses brought from Krystle Brides. It was a wonderful day with much creativity – we look forward to styling a wedding at Old Church Farm soon!”
