Boho inspired Festival Wedding

Megan & Ross’ coastal wedding in the Gower, South Wales

This boho inspired festival wedding was one of my favourites in 2021. Megan & Ross got legally married in 2020, but had to scale their wedding plans right down due to covid restrictions at that time. They decided to have a second wedding in 2021. This way all their friends and family could join them and celebrate the way they had originally planned.

Bridal prep with a difference

The day started with a girls’ swim. The beach has a special place in Megan & Ross’s hearts. Living close to the beach they regularly swim in the sea. Megan always knew she wanted to start the day with a dip in the sea. It was a special moment as all the women ran into the sea together.

Then it was time to head back to their neighbour’s beautiful home to get ready for the big day. I love this time of bridal prep as it gives me a chance to catch many special emotional moments and those important details you have spent so long thinking about.

Festival style outdoor wedding

The wedding itself was all outside at Eastern Slade Campsite overlooking the Gower pensinsula. This wedding had a real festival vibe as guests camped in Bell Tents and campervans. The view across the sea was stunning and despite a damp start to the day the rain stayed away until the evening time.

Coastal wedding ceremony

The wedding itself was certainly emotional and I don’t think there were many dry eyes! I love seeing a groom that shows emotion. It was clear to see how special it was for these two to get married in this way with all their friends and family by their side.

Beach wedding photography

After group photographs the guests enjoyed the idyllic surroundings, played lawn games and ate canopies. I always encourage my couples to schedule in some time away from your guests to catch up with each other. This is a great chance to get some natural portraits. Ross & Megan’s dog joined us for a walk down to the beach. Megan was not precious about her dress and happily scrambled down narrow paths to get to the beach to make some gorgeous memories.

Marquee wedding reception

We headed back to the marquee just as the rain was coming in and there was a special surprise waiting for the happy couple. Ross works for the fire service and his brother organised their grand arrival to the reception in a fire department car, complete with sirens wailing! After a delicious BBQ meal the speeches had everyone in fits of laughter. I especially enjoyed the slideshow of embarrasing photos of the groom dressed up in various outfits. The festival vibes then kicked in with the band getting everyone up dancing and partying hard.
